Just a real quick update from the UFO/ET Congress in Bordentown, NJ. We’re not going to live blog, as is probably obvious at this point – but rather post summaries at the end of each day. For a somewhat real time update, or at least snapshot observations, and actually some actual snapshots well, check out our Twitter feed.
Just really quick highlights while we’re on a dinner break: Continue reading

It's not pretty, but it's a conference
So we’re headed to another conference – this one a little closer to our home base. Next weekend we’re taking a run down the Jersey Turnpike to visit a Bordentown Ramada Inn. The motel itself has gotten pretty pitiful reviews, so we’re staying at the tried and true Hampton Inn down the road. We had originally booked rooms at the Ramada, but once we saw the reviews, including one about a fire where the smoke detectors didn’t go off, we canceled and rearranged.
Hopefully the actual conference is more impressive than the website – click the image to the right. Oy. These fringe groups continue to look fringe because of their hideous web design. A few years ago this would be excusable, but not now. Oh well. The schedule looks interesting however: Continue reading

This guy hadn’t even started his presentation yet he already had the audience raring to go. The ponytail and ascot were a little much, but he said he hates the terms UFO and Little Green Men so things were looking good. Continue reading

Ed Grimsley
Tonight out by the tennis courts, Ed Grimsley is gonna have night vision goggles set up so we can get a good look at the night sky. I hope the weather cooperates. This should be cool.

Who would’ve thought no one would spring for WiFi access in the conference rooms. It’s a freaking UFO expo. I had WiFi at ComicCon. Anyway – quick tally with more details to come… Continue reading

Here we are at the Bay Area UFO Conference… and so far, a big old goose egg. Well, two of them. The registration process was smooth and everyone seemed friendly enough. The first blow came when we sat in on the very first presentation of the day, Frank Joseph Hoff’s piece about Atlantis.
Oh dear god. This guy is not a public speaker. To be fair neither am I, but if I set foot on a stage with a couple of dozen people in front of me, I’d make sure I had something to say. Continue reading

Bay Area UFO Expo 2009
This weekend we’re headed to the Bay Area UFO Expo. Looks like they’ve got some interesting folks showing up – although the poster on the main page isn’t necessarily up-to-date (George Noory is a definite no-show). There is a schedule page available, but we’re not so sure who’s actually still showing. I wish these paranormal/convention websites were run more like their traditional counterparts (Comic Con, Toy Con, etc.) – I think they’d come across looking a little more professional and a little less “Mom’s basement” scary.
Anyway, we’ll be live-blogging for the event providing there’s a decent WiFi signal. We’ll see you there. We won’t be the ones wearing tinfoil hats.
